Oregon PSR's Healthy Climate Program works to protect Oregon and Pacific Northwest communities from the serious health risks posed by oil storage and transport in our region. Oil transport by rail and sea poses grave health risks including tanker explosions, spills, water and air pollution, and contribution to climate change-related disasters and diseases.

Pacific Northwest oil-by-rail shipments have increased enormously since 2012 due to development of Bakken oil fields in Canada and North Dakota and the location of oil refineries on the West Coast.
